David Villarreal is an associate at the firm’s Houston office who maintains a general civil litigation practice.
During law school, David served as the Editor-in-Chief of the American Journal of Criminal Law, clerked at the United States Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Texas, and worked as a law clerk at the Travis County District Attorney’s Office. Prior to joining McDowell Hetherington, David clerked for The Honorable Judge Diana Saldaña of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas. As a clerk, David managed both a heavy civil and criminal docket and drafted opinions in cases involving, among other things, employment disputes, insurance coverage, and eminent domain.
Having received both his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Texas at Austin, David is an avid Longhorn football fan. In fact, he went so far as to name his dog Austin. In addition to reading up on current events, David enjoys outdoor activities such as running, hiking, and swimming. On his time off, David enjoys traveling with his wife to historic cities and sites rich with culture.
